Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of a tragic loss to my family. While fourth-of-July weekend will still be filled with hot grills and balmy, late nights - the fireworks will signify, for me - for my family; the celebration and remembrance of a life taken too soon. It seems fitting that the weekend be about freedom, because if I have anything to learn from loss and grief and lessons in mortality, it is to allow myself the freedom to pursue happiness in the way I perceive it and fill my life with the people and things I love. To be able to look back on life - as he did - and have lived without regret, is the greatest gift I can think of. And it is a gift you can only give to yourself.
