Icíar Bollían was born in Madrid, Spain, 1967. Her career in film began early, at fourteen, when she was cast in Victor Erice’s El Sur (1983). What followed would be incredible successes in multiple aspects of the filmmaking process, including; acting, writing, and directing both features and documentaries. Bollían’s career is still blossoming. Her latest film release Even the Rain (2010), was among the nine finalists in the selection for this year’s Best Foreign Film category at the 83rd Academy Awards. At 43, the prolific filmmaker has starred in 31 films or TV series, directed 10 films, written 10 films, and produced 2. It is certainly a career to aspire to.
